Tom was fond of cars, and some of his favorite models were manufactured by Volkswagen. When Tom first entered my life back in the year 2000 he was driving a 1999 Volkswagen Jetta, Wolfsberg Edition. He loved that car. Ever the frugal consumer, Tom's only regret was buying it new. I was seventeen years old when I met Tom and his VW. Unbeknownst to me, he and my mother had been seeing one another for over a year. As a teenager I was ambivalent towards mom and Tom's relationship, but I sure liked that car! Soon after meeting Tom, he handed me the keys and I learned how to drive a manual transmission. A year-and-half later Tom handed me the keys for good on my first day of college. I greatly appreciated Tom's super generous gesture and his super cool car. Somewhere in the great beyond there is a brand new tan colored cc Volkswagen, and Tom is behind the wheel.
